YENNADON UPDATE 2009

We had a busy year in 2009, Sorrel reached her 14 birthday, quite a milestone. Polly who was born in the Autumn of 2008 has found her feet, and enjoys meeting up with her siblings, especially Fergus who is keen on his agility training.

At Crufts we had an exciting day, from 170 Gordons, Tavy won reserve best bitch, Tansy, Daisy and Druid won their classes. We did not show a great deal in 2009, but at the tender age of 18 months Daisy won a reserve cc, Druid won the points to gain his Junior Warrant and Dan has accrued sufficient points in the show and field to become a German Champion once he reaches the required age.

Shadow, JJ and Carrick have all done well in the show and at field work, and Darcy and Fergus have continued to win places in hot competition at Agility.

Nicky judged the ISA and S+P field trial in the Spring and Sylvia judged a breed show in Holland. Nicky has also been involved in training days with Terry Harris at Hampshire Gundog.

We continue to count grouse in England and Scotland for our gamekeeper friends, and the team of support to assist is fantastic. Anyone who would like to know more is of course welcome to contact us.

One of the years highlights was our visit to Russia. 11 years ago Yennadon Swift left the UK with his Gordon enthusiast owner Yuri Romananov, and we accepted their invitation to visit. We were treated by our Russian friends to a tour of the Kremlin, sightseeing in Moscow, and a day in the field watching Swifts offspring and other Gordon’s work in the field. Swift has been awarded the title of Champion of the Russian Federation on two occasions. This is awarded by a panel of setter and pointer experts and is based upon criteria including contribution to the breed by virtue of achievements of progeny, field and show wins.
